Abstract
Investigation of foraminiferal microfauna of the shore sands of Bhatkal and Devgad islands (Karnataka) , west coast of India, has facilitated recognition of 40 species from Bhatkal and 41 species from Devgad islands. A check list and illustrations for the species identified are provided. Three species are recorded for the first time from Indian waters. Based on population characteristics and distributional pattern, depositional environment and Indo-Pacific affinities of the microfauna are elucidated.
